QIO is a way of storing large amounts of items that can be stored, searched, and accessed remotely in late game. It's comprised of at least one QIO Drive (to store items) and a QIO Drive Array (to hold the QIO Drives). Both the drive and drive array must be set to the same frequency in order to work together.

While the above setup is enough for a functional storage, the player must make either a QIO Dashboard, or a Portable QIO Dashboard, and attune it to the same frequency to interact with the storage manually.

Note that the QIO System does not consume energy. Nor can it store anything other than items: no fluids, gases or energy.

QIO Drive Array

QIO drive array block

A QIO Drive Array is a blocks that contains QIO Drives and wirelessly transmits their contents to other QIO devices. In order to work, the drive array must be set to a frequency.

QIO Drives

QIO Drives are inserted into a Drive Array, allowing it to store more items. Each drive has a number of items and item types it can contain.

Tier ㅤㅤㅤ Items Types
None (basic) 16 000 128
Hyper-Dense 128 000 256
Time-Dilating 1 048 000 1024
Supermassiveㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ 16 000 000 000 8192

QIO Dashboard

QIO dashboard interface

QIO Dashboards allow a user to interface with the contents of a QIO Drive Array. It looks similar to a chest inventory, but it can be searched, sorted, scrolled through, and shows all items of one type as a single stack, even if there are thousands of them. In order to access a drive array, the dashboard must be set to the same frequency as the drive array.

The portable version works in the same way, except it can be opened from anywhere.

Both versions also feature the ability to open up to three crafting grids at the same time.

Note that both will function even if the Drive Array is unloaded.

QIO Importer

QIO importer

QIO Importers are attached to a block with inventory and wirelessly transmit their contents to a drive array. The importer must be set to the same frequency as the drive array. If attached to a machine, it will attempt to import the output from the specific attached side.

Filters can be set for what to import, in the same way as many other machines in Mekanism. By default, it will import all items.

QIO Exporter

QIO Exporters are attached to a block with inventory and wirelessly inserts the contents of a drive array to said inventory. If attached to a machine, it will attempt to insert through the side it is attached on.

Filters must be set for what to export, in the same way as many other machines in Mekanism, unless the relevant setting is toggled off in the UI.

Trivia

  • The QIO Dashboard has Z-Fighting issues when it faces up, east or south.
