Factories are advanced forms of the basic machines aimed to large scale resource processing. The Crusher, Enrichment Chamber, Osmium Compressor, Combiner, Purification Chamber and Energized Smelter, precision Sawmill and Chemical Injection Chamber all have a factory version. They can also output to blocks/inventories adjacent of them without using any transportation pipes for more compact builds.
A note about power usage: Each level of factory increases power requirements based on the number of added slots. So if an Energized Smelter requires 50j/t, a basic factory will be 150j/t, an advanced will be 250j/t, and so on.
