This template is used to add a message above a protected page.

Usage

This template automatically determines the page's protection level and namespace for its information.

The parameter {{{1}}} can be added for an additional note as to why it is protected. If unset, it defaults to "to prevent vandalism", or "because it is widely transcluded" on templates.

Protected pages using this template are added to Category:Protected pages. If the page is not protected, it is added to Category:Unprotected pages using Template:Protected
